This is the week of Class Presentations, and I'm really looking forward to seeing your presentation and reading your paper! Information on the Class Presentations can be found here. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Here's what is happening in week 6 of CH 223:

• This is Class Presentations week!
  • This week you will be giving your Class Presentation and submitting your final Class Presentation paper. See below for more information, and remember a lab is due on this week as well (see below.)
  • The Paper: Details on the requirements for the written paper can be found in the Class Presentations page and in the FAQ.
  • The Presentation: You will be giving a roughly five minute presentation to your class section during recitation (Section 01: Monday, March 5 at 1:10 PM in AC 2501; Section H1: Wednesday, March 7 at 1:10 PM in AC 2501.)
  • We will start promptly so make sure you are there on time. A part of your grade includes full attendance on this day, so be there and don't be late, ok?
  • During your presentation you can use the podium Windows computer in AC 2501 for PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.-type presentations, or you can just 'chalk talk' your presentation (use the chalk board, or visuals, etc.) Any questions? Let me know!
  • A part of your grade in Section 01 and Section H1 will be completing and turning in the "Class Presentation Reviewer Guide." I will provide the guide before the presentations start (or you can bring one yourself, your call).
  • Your Class Presentation paper will be due at the time of your Class Presentation. Print it before class starts; printing after would invoke a point penalty.
  • The Titration of Weak Acids (in class) Lab is also due at the time of your Class Presentation.
  • If you have any questions, please let me know!
• We will not be completing a quiz, lab or problem set this week.

• Explore the material in Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 There are several tools to help you learn the material.... they include:
  • Read Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 (up to and including entropy but not Gibbs energy) in the textbook
  • Watch the Complete Lectures for Chapter 15 (found here: Part I (there is only one video for Chapter 15) and Chapter 16 (found here: Part I, Part II)
  • Lecture videos for Chapter 15 and Chapter 16 will be found on YouTube and as a Podcast soon.
  • Chapter Guide Four (online learning materials for Chapter 15 and Chapter 16) might be helpful

• Due: Problem Set #4 which covers problems from Chapter 15 and Chapter 16.
  • Use this link to get the Spring 2025 version of problem set #4.
  • Practice Problem Set #4 might be of help while completing problem set #4; answers are included at the end of the document.
• This Week: Quiz #4
  • Section 01 and Section H1 will take the quiz in class during recitation in AC 2501.
  • Sample Quiz #4 (answers) might be helpful.
• Start: The Determination of K_sp, ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS° for Ca(OH)₂ Lab
