Calculations With Solids

This page is an exercise in relating the solid state structures of metals with their densities. When you press "New Problem", a question will appear to the right of the table. Your response will involve either a multiple choice question or entering a value in the answer cell. Results appear in the table where running totals are also kept. The equations have been simplified from those in the text by combining all of the constants into a single term. Note that for Chemistry 222 students, we can assume that our "face centered cubic" (fcc) cell type is the same as this program's "hcp" and "ccp" designations. Only one attempt is allowed per problem. If you miss a problem, the correct answer will be displayed.
