Intermolecular Forces

This page provides exercises in identifying the intermolecular forces present in compounds and elements. Pressing "New Problem" will list a compound and give a choice of possible intermolecular forces. Draw a Lewis structure to be certain of atom arrangements, etc. Select the strongest intermolecular force you would expect to be present. Remember that a compound of any complexity is likely to have more than one force present. Recall that van der Waals forces are also known as induced dipole - induced dipole (ID-ID) forces as well as London dispersion forces You only get one attempt per compound-for obvious reasons. If you get it incorrect, the answer is shown.
